ON THE RISE: The Misunderstood

“To be great is to be misunderstood.”
    Ralph Waldo Emerson

ENTREE LS X VILLIANOIRE featuring Tony Boyle and George Dallas

I went to a sample sale in Brooklyn a few weeks ago that led me to what looked like a big warehouse. A quick ride up the elevator and I entered the wonderful world of Entree LS. The Entree LS headquarters is the home to eclectic and urban pieces worn by the likes of Wale and Rihanna, but the team had to work for their success. Entrée LS started out as a small two man team selling tees out of the back of a truck. They faced quite a bit of rejection as they worked to develop their products, however they now sell their styles in over 150 boutiques. Entree LS has built itself around the belief that perseverance and persistence will prevail, and what started as a group of misunderstood guys has grown into a thriving destination for all things urban.

Take a peak at some of their designs featured below, and shot by Villainoire another young artist on the path to succeed despite all odds. Villainoire has an amazing eye for concept, contrast, and light. He may be new to the game, but his pictures are editorial and his calendar is getting booked fast. In the photos below, he shot Tony Boyle, and George Dallas, two young aspiring models. Tony is wearing a few Entrée LS pieces, and George is wearing Von Parris, another up and coming designer whose designs have been worn by Trey Songz, Fabolous, and more. Von Parris will be featured in future posts.

Consider the photos below to be the early stage of something great to come. This is the next generation of "misunderstood" guys, who are on their way to becoming young stars. Stay tuned....xo Little Sherlock

Backpack Attack!

Move aside totes, doctor bags, and clutches...the backpack is the hottest staple sack for all of your necessities this year. Over the past six months there has been a surge in backpacks for both men and women and being in the city I have seen some pretty cool ones.

One thing I have noticed since moving to Brooklyn is that people in general are not as friendly and little unwilling to have their picture taken by a complete stranger. However luckily for this story, they didn't even have to know I was taking the pictures because all the detail is in the back! Talk about super-sleuthing for little sherlock!

Whether you prefer a simple Herschel with leather detailing, or a backpack you can soar with complete with candy colored wings, backpacks are versatile, functional, and are great for carting around on any adventure. Check out the smorgasbord of packs I spotted below, and be sure to pick one up and sport this trend in your own way!

Camo and Cargo by the pool!

Comin to getcha! I love everything about this...herringbone leggings, cognac boots, windowpane plaid, olive trench....and the icing? Black herschel pack...

 London Calling...
Navy Backpack with leather trims.

Im sensing a theme... grey menswear with cognac trims and straps.

Crimson Rugby Pack with a button pocket.

Workout Herschel in Onyx with brown leather buckles.

 Geometric Herschel

"The Nomad".....Tricky to catch but this backpack was really triangular and different...so cool!

This one is by FAR my favorite....and the owner let me take a good picture! This backpack is from Japan, and is created using a special type of paper! It looked so fragile but the woman who was toting it around even opened it up and showed me that there was tons of stuff inside. The best part was that she said every time it rains the paper gets stronger...the opposite of what you might expect for a material such as this. One thing is for sure this is the best paper bag I've ever seen!

 Olive Canvas Bag

This bag was the kookiest of the bunch. I'm not sure if she is flyin anywhere fast with that set of wings but to each his own!

Leave your comments below....and if you have a cool backpack you want me to feature, send me an email!
